The Company
Digital Double was founded on January 1st 2004 and has quickly grown into a multi-talented team of animators, motion capture & 3D printing technicians, programmers, and artists of all backgrounds. We are located in Redmond, Washington.

Digital Double specializes in customized service. Whether you need raw motion capture data, concept illustration, modeling and texturing, or complete ready-to-go animation, we can tailor a solution to your project.

Most recently Digital Double has entered the field of industrial design and has become one of the first companies in the world to offer affordable 3D printed products on demand (to learn more go to www.armaturenine.com). Part of our mission is to be a resource to artists, whether it's events we host and sponsor or tools and goods that we make. Therefore in the coming months you will see a number of additional products available in our online storefront for artists, including motion capture libraries, a growing photo library, MEL tools, Maya rigs, and the like.
The Team






Kamal Siegel
Chief Executive Artist & Owner
Kamal has spent over a decade engaged in the video game and entertainment industry and has shipped over a dozen titles for clients such as Microsoft, Sony, Nickelodeon, Wild Tangent, Smashing Ideas & many others. As a full-time employee at Microsoft, Kamal took on a leadership role as Texturing & Lighting Lead, where he supervised the creation of thousands of art assets for environments & characters and pushed forward significant innovations in real-time graphics such as real-time dynamic image-based lighting and real-time dynamic occlusion shadows. Kamal then moved on to work on Sony's Pirates of the burning Sea as a Technical Art Director where he established complex 3D character creation and customization pipelines that are still in use today.

Now, Kamal is the proud founder and owner of Digital Double and continues to push art and technology further. Most recently Kamal founded the Digital Arts Festival in collaboration with the Redmond Arts Commission & the City of Redmond. Now he fully owns and operates the yearly event out of his office in Redmond and continues to sheppard its growth and development by engaging the community, local businesses and partners. Kamal has also been on the advisory boards for International Accademy of Design & Technology, DigiPen Institute of Technology, Bellevue College, 4Culture and by appointment of the Redmond City Mayor served on the Redmond Arts Commission for a full term between 2005-2008.


Mariya Lincoln
Business Advisor
Mariya comes to Digital Double after running her own music performance and instruction business for seven years. She earned a BA in Music Performance from Oregon State University and has been performing and teaching music in the Northwest for over ten years. Mariya's responsibilities with Digital Double include research and outreach, web and social presence, networking and working closely with the team to plan the direction of the company and future projects. Mariya also has certificates in technical writing and is responsible for much of our content and proofing for company documents, blogs, and email communications. Additional skills include marketing, recording engineering, and pedagogy.


Abbott Smith
Art Director
Abbott was the former Associate Dean of Art and Animation at DigiPen Institute of Technology, where he helped build the BFA program and curriculum from the ground up. Prior to that, he was an instructor at the Art Institute of Seattle. He is a passionate artist, writer and educator. He has been in the field of arts and arts education for the last fifteen years inspiring the hearts and minds of artists and arts educators around the world. He now works doing art direction, private art instruction and illustration (commissions and children’s books).


Kevin Harris
Senior 3D Artist & 3D Printing Specialist
Kevin started to explore drawing and Maya since highschool and has been developing his skills non-stop ever since. He's worked on a variety of freelance projects including some medical animation work for the PSBC and graphics for the law offices of Daniel R. Whitmore in Seattle. Kevin has a degree in animation & graphics from Bellevue College, and spends whatever spare time he has on making his own short films. Kevin assists us with all our 3D art production needs, ranging from modeling to texturing and animation. He also has a passion for photography, post production and effects. It's great having such a well-rounded artists here at the studio.


Joshua Cherry
Mocap & 3D Scanning Technician
Joshua started his career through an internship with us in summer of '09. During that time we became familiar with his great skills and work ethic and he discovered a passion for motion capture, 3D scanning and 3D printing. Now Josh has become our go to guy for all our technical needs here at the studio. In addition Josh handles all modeling tasks pertaining to rapid prototyping such as part replica's or custom designed parts for manufacturing as well as retopology for animation.


Doug Nakagawa
Senior Concept Artist
After an exciting and successful career in the field of construction, Doug chose to pursue a career in animation and a degree from the Art Institute of Seattle. Now as a veteran artist working in the field, Doug brings years of experience to the table with an exquisite set of drawing and design skills.

Javier Duhart
Latin American Outreach Consultant
Javier is the owner and founder of Faro, an independent record label founded in 1993 in Santiago, Chile. Making the most of his talents in the fields of sound engineering, record production, musical composition, graphic design and audiovisual communication, Javier Duhart brings an incredible depth of knowledge, skill and experience to the table. Javier began doing work for us in 1998 creating a number of audio recordings. Javier's role has now evolved to one involving Latin American outreach, customer relations and marketing.


Rory Plaire
Software Engineering Consultant & Toggle3D Partner
Rory has a passion for engineering software which is built soundly and agilely, works smoothly and robustly, and satisfies users and stakeholders, whatever the scale of the project.

His specialty is C++ programming but he also has an extensive repertoire of skills including Java, .NET, ASP, C# and more. Rory also co-founded Toggle3D with Kamal Siegel in 2007, a company that is working toward releasing a 3D asset management tool for 3D artists.

Open House: Schedule a Tour!
Due to low attendance, Digital Double no longer hosts monthly open houses.
We will, however, schedule demos and tours for groups of five or more people (for company and school tours please see "School Field Trips" below).

Tours are free of charge. If you would like us to capture and record a mini session for each individual and email each performer the files in .fbx format we can offer that services at the additional charge of $20 per person. Each session lasts 120 seconds. Re-takes are allowed, but performer must pick the best take and notify the technitian.
School Field Trips: Schedule a Tour for $200!

Class field trips cost $200 for a one hour session where we guarantee that at least ten students will get to record data and take it back to class with them (data is given to instructor via download link). If you can go quickly and squeeze in more people, then great, or feel free to schedule an additional hour to give you more time for large groups of students. Each recording session will last approximately 120 seconds. Re-takes are allowed, but student or instructor must pick the best take and notify the technitian.
Life Drawing Sessions $15 for a 3 Hour session
Digital Double now hosts monthly life drawing sessions for artists. Seating and some easels are provided.
Sessions alternate monthly between male and female models. Poses are done in the nude and timed by the moderator or model.
Session begins with an hour of 1's, then an hour of 5's and concludes with an hour of 10's.

When: 1st Saturday of the Month from 10am-1pm
Where:At our studio. First floor to your left.
Cost:$15 per person or $20 for two
Length:3 Hours with short breaks every 20 minutes.
